Deadlines are approaching quickly, so why wait? Apply today!
Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program (JPSN)
The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program is for children with diagnosed disabilities. The program gives parents the choice to opt out of public school and choose a private or home-based education option for their child. Through approved JPSN providers, funds are allocated to address specific needs listed on the child’s individualized education plan (IEP).
Receive Up to $27,000 Annually for Your Child’s Education!
This is not a need-based program. Scholarships are awarded based upon the child’s special education category:

Academic Fun & Fitness Camp
The Academic Fun & Fitness Camp is a six-week summer camp for kids ages 6 – 19 with learning disabilities (i.e. ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, dyslexia, LD, etc.). This special needs program is coordinated through the Creative Education Institute, a nonprofit organization. North Coast Education Services is a proud sponsor of the camp, which began in 2001. The camp is held in Kirtland, Ohio, on the campus of Lakeland Community College.*
Expect the Unexpected at this “Unschool” Camp
The Academic Fun & Fitness Camp is also commonly referred to as the “unschool” camp because the staff makes learning interesting and fun! Every day, campers participate in small group reading and math activities using multi-sensory, hands-on methods. By incorporating games and tailoring the curriculum to the individual needs of the group, campers have the tools for success. The ratio is 5 campers to 1 counselor.
A Wide Variety of Social Skills Activities
What makes this camp so popular with families is the immense variety of activities. In addition to multi-sensory reading and math, campers also participate in a several activities designed to improve and foster social skills. Activities include theatre arts, non-competitive sports (baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis), martial arts, hands-on science, art therapy, music and more.
Space is Limited, so Apply Today!
Due to the unique nature of this camp, only a limited number of campers are invited to participate. Space is still available for Summer 2017. For more information about the Academic Fun & Fitness Camp, email Carole Richards – Executive Camp Director – at caroler@unschoolcamp.org, or call (440) 914-0200.
