For almost 40 years, Carole Richards has devoted her energies to providing the very best education services possible to children and adults in Northeast Ohio. As President and Executive Director of North Coast Education Services, Carole has developed an outstanding reputation as an educator and problem-solver.


Carole’s professional work with learning disabled students has led to a strong understanding of their needs and a deep commitment to improving their education.

She is Author of the much-acclaimed Richards Learning Systems program. This successful reading program uses proven multi-sensory-systematic methods to each language arts skills. 


For her achievements as author of Richards Learning Systems ®, Carole was honored as a recipient of the NorTech Award for Innovation. She has been recognized as one of Cleveland’s Top Ten Woman Business Owners (NAWBO), received the Ten Top 10 Award from COSE, and was presented the President’s Award by the National Tutoring Association. Carole has also been nominated for the internationally recognized Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education. In March of 2017, Carole was recognized as a Professional of the Year by Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide Edition for her outstanding contributions and achievements for over 46 years in the field of education service.

More recently, she created the fun and innovative “Sammy and the Magical Reading Chest” https://www.richardslearningsystems.com a 77 episode video series. With puppets, animation and children the teacher/parent is trained at the same time the children learn to read.


Former CEO, Eric Gordon, Cleveland Metropolitan School district supported the efforts to complete the program. Mark Lauterbach, Ph.D. will complete a three-year research study of the effects of the “Sammy” Program in ten Cleveland Schools. Dr. Lauterbach is the former student and colleague of Linnea Ehri, Ph.D. a nationally known literacy expert and researcher.
