Award-Winning Reading And Math Curriculums Are Used In Cleveland, Akron And Other Cities
What Makes Our Curriculum So Special?
The Richards Learning Systems ® program and our Real Life Ma+h program are multi-sensory, systematic approaches to learning:
- Multi-Sensory – Visual (eyes), auditory (ears), tactile (touch) and kinesthetic muscle movement senses are used. Research has shown that we learn best when we use more than multi (more than two) senses at a time.
- Systematic – A step-by-step approach is used. Students are introduced to one concept at a time and each new concept is dependent upon previously learned concepts.
- Richards Learning Systems® includes four logical systems:
- Phonics - word reading and spelling
- Reading Comprehension – fiction
- Reading Comprehension – nonfiction
- Writing
- Real Life Ma+h includes the following concepts taught systematically:
- Computation Skills
- Word Problems
- Math concepts taught hands-on with manipulatives
Workshop Training
Every fall, North Coast Education Services offers workshop training in Richards Learning Systems® and Real Life Ma+h. These workshops are open to tutors, teachers, administrators, intervention specialists, parents, and more.
